What Clients Say
"Caylena Cahill is a professional is every sense of the word. When given an editorial photo assignment, she is able to work independently and overcome challenges. Pertinent information is gathered for each shot and reported back. And she delivers wonderfully compelling photography, that is both artistically composed and technically superb."
Jason Cring Upstater / Luminary Media"We had the pleasure to work with Caylena when she covered the convention of the Alliances Françaises in North America, that took place in Washington in October 2014. We highly appreciated the quality of her work, her professionalism and artistic sensibility."
Carlos Tabernero Ministère des Affaires étrangères, Délégué Général Adjoint de l'Alliance Française aux Etats-Unis"We really love the photography that Caylena did for us! People both inside and out of the organization have really noticed a difference between the images she made and those made by our staff, who are fairly talented in their own rights. Her work stands out and has provided a great asset in our marketing and promotional efforts - it's a real comfort to know that we now have access to high quality photos in our image library that help us project our image in the way we intend, reinforcing the respect and confidence in our organization from others in the field, as well as current and prospective attendees and donors. Further, Caylena is reliable, professional and discreet; she understands boundaries and knows how to adapt to different situations."
Nate Binzen Garrison Institute"Caylena did a tremendous job while she was [working] for Ulster County Tourism. Her attention to detail - no matter the task - was simply amazing. She was responsible for putting together material for our dining guide, which included follow up phone calls to every restaurant in our county. We couldn't have done it without her. She is also a very talented photographer and has a wonderful personality. I would highly recommend her for any job."
Rick Remsnyder Ulster County Tourism“Caylena has been an asset to our marketing team. She is extremely talented and creative and has helped bring our marketing to the next level. She is a hard worker and someone that can be relied on to get the job done both on time and beyond expectations. I highly recommend her.”
Bruce Fuchs Uneeda"We are a nonprofit organization working with people with cancer and their families. Caylena assisted in creating documents and lists of a highly confidential nature and needing tact and sensitivity. I was very pleased with the work she did. She is an independent and motivated [worker] who I highly recommend."
Shawn Galbreath Cancer Resource Center of the Finger Lakes"I had the pleasure of bringing Caylena on for the inaugural Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership Advanced Leadership Academy's Marketing and Public Relations team. Caylena served as both the director of photography and a creative thought partner as the organization launched its' first program for high school juniors and seniors. She was invaluable as a photographer, and an accountable and pleasant colleague throughout the experience."
Monika Bach Schroeder Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership"Caylena's work is taking our website and email campaigns to the next level. She's helped not only to populate the site with content, but strategically organize and design the site, set up and design our email templates with our branding standards, and help us to understand how to update our site and use HTML email to our advantage. She's helped transform our website from embarrassing to something we actively promote [...] Without the work Caylena did, our site would still be, effectively, useless."
Kim Burgess Morgan Hill MarketingHi, I'm Caylena Cahill.
I’m a multilingual creative working across language, storytelling, and visual communication.
Journalism & Magazines
As a multi-media journalist and writer working with clients such as Newsday Westchester, Hudson Valley Magazine and various local newspapers, I learned how to discern the key and impactful elements of a story and convert them into engaging and informative photos, videos and written content.
Photography & Video
I picked up my first camera at the age of 6 or 7. Armed with darkroom experience, a Bachelors in Photography from Ithaca College, and my digital camera, I set forth on a career in photography. Since then, I’ve refined my skills through work in journalism, marketing, products, lifestyle, food, events, portraiture, non-profits, and many, many weddings.
Marketing, Communications and Fundraising
Through my work with Uneeda Enterprizes, Garrison Institute, the Cancer Resource Center, grassroots organizations in Latin America, and consulting for small businesses and solo-entrepreneurs, I’ve worked on countless projects touching all aspects of marketing, content, social media, design, strategy, art and content direction, branding, asset management, production, strategic partnerships and web development.
Languages, Translation & Education
Passionate about learning languages, I’ve developed functional fluency in French and Spanish, and beginner/intermediate Portuguese. I’ve worked as a language teacher, teaching English and French, and recently began putting those skills to action in translation.
International Living & Cultural Sensitivity
I’ve lived, studied, worked and volunteered in various countries, including France, Dominican Republic and Colombia, not to mention travel through diverse countries such as Morocco, Poland, Peru and more. Thanks to those experiences immersed in foreign languages & cultures, I’ve developed cultural awareness and empathy towards other perspectives and ways of life.
Volunteer Projects
Over the years, I’ve been involved in various volunteer projects, from raising money and running a half-marathon for Sparrow’s Nest – an organization that provides meals for family’s whose mothers are battling cancer – to a multi decade relationship with Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership (HOBY). With HOBY, I’ve held various roles including, public relations, program assistant, photographer, group facilitator and more.
Personal Projects & Podcast
Over the years I’ve developed several personal projects in art, photography and particularly, podcasting. Through my over 50 episodes, I interacted with and shared stories about organizations doing work in food security, health/nutrition, economic development and more. Some examples include Manna Food Center, Cabarete Sostenible, Newburgh Urban Farm and Food Initiative, Food Recovery Network, National Farm to School Network, Community Foundations of the Hudson Valley and Think Dutchess Alliance for Business.
