This past Tuesday, I had the privilege of being the official photographer for the Food + Social Enterprise panel discussion at the Beahive in Beacon, NY – cohosted by the Beahive, Re>Think Local and Hudson River Housing, in conjunction with the redevelopment project of the Poughkeepsie Underwear Factory.
The panelists were local food industry experts with varying backgrounds, from retail bakeries and wholesale organic syrup distribution to business consulting and investing for food-based companies and projects. The discussion focused on issues facing the development of food-based social enterprises in the Hudson Valley, and included questions from the audience on the importance of marketing and crowd-funding in growing the business, including social and philanthropic efforts in the business model/vision, and advocacy for food and farm related issues with local political representatives.
Overall an interesting conversation and a great turn out!
