Fun fact:
When I first decided I wanted to be a photographer, no one ever told me that that really meant being a business owner, which really means being able to manage many things at once and wear many hats (marketing, sales, accounting/billing, production and fulfillment, leadership, HR, etc.). Thus, no one ever told me being a photographer meant being a sales person and learning how to effectively manage prospects, leads, clients and other contacts and getting creative on finding opportunities.
But just because no one told me this, this is not an excuse. So, once I learned that these things were necessary to be successful, I made a commitment to myself to learn and excel at these skills because, as I’ve heard several times, a real leader never asks someone to do something (s)he is unwilling to do.
So… yes. I am a business owner. I am a sales person. I am a photographer. I’m a marketer. I’m a writer. I’m a creator.
But mostly, I’m me.
And, all my efforts are there so I can be the best person I can be and make the best contribution I can make. Because really that’s what matters in the end. And in the end, we’re all going to be gone anyway. So, as I’m writing this story of my life, and I want everything I do to matter and make a difference to those I’ve known and those I haven’t.
And that is why I am owning being a sales person.
